Business intelligence analyst Job Description

Tasks:

  • Data Analysis & Reporting:
    • Gather, analyse, and interpret large datasets to provide insights on business performance, trends, and opportunities.
    • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports using BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Google Data Studio.
    • Present data-driven recommendations to stakeholders to support strategic decision-making.
  • Data Management & Integrity:
    • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data across various sources.
    • Collaborate with IT teams to optimise data pipelines and maintain database integrity.
    • Identify and address data quality issues and inconsistencies.
  • Business Insights Development:
    • Work with different departments (sales, marketing, operations, finance) to understand their data needs and provide actionable insights.
    • Analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor business health and recommend improvements.
    • Identify patterns, trends, and opportunities to optimise business operations and drive revenue growth.
  • Automation & Process Improvement:
    • Automate repetitive reporting tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual efforts.
    • Support process improvements by leveraging data-driven insights.
    • Develop predictive models and trend analyses to support future business planning.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
    • Act as a liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders to ensure data-driven decision-making.
    • Provide training and support to teams in utilising BI tools effectively.
    • Translate complex data findings into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Business Intelligence Analyst, Data Analyst, or similar role.
  • Strong proficiency in BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Google Data Studio, or similar.
  • Advanced Excel skills (PivotTables, VLOOKUP, Power Query) and experience with SQL for data querying.
  • Knowledge of data visualization best practices and dashboard design principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience with statistical analysis and predictive modeling is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
