E-commerce data analyst Job Description

Tasks:

  • Data Collection & Analysis:
    • Collect, clean, and analyse data from multiple eCommerce platforms such as Shopify, WooCommerce, Amazon, and Google Analytics.
    • Monitor and analyse website traffic, sales performance, and customer behaviour metrics.
    • Identify trends and patterns in sales data to provide actionable insights for marketing and sales teams.
    • Measure the effectiveness of promotional campaigns, A/B tests, and pricing strategies.
  • Performance Reporting:
    • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as conversion rates, customer acquisition cost (CAC), customer lifetime value (CLV), and return on ad spend (ROAS).
    • Present insights and recommendations to stakeholders to support strategic initiatives.
    • Provide regular reporting on inventory levels, product performance, and fulfilment efficiency.
  • Customer Behaviour Insights:
    • Analyse customer journeys, purchasing patterns, and retention rates to improve user experience and customer loyalty.
    • Segment customer data to develop targeted marketing strategies.
    • Track and report on cart abandonment rates and suggest strategies for improvement.
  • Market & Competitor Analysis:
    • Conduct competitor benchmarking to assess pricing, product trends, and market positioning.
    • Track industry trends and customer preferences to identify new growth opportunities.
    • Monitor social media and customer reviews for sentiment analysis.
  • Process Optimisation:
    • Identify inefficiencies in the eCommerce operations and recommend data-driven improvements.
    • Work with cross-functional teams (marketing, sales, operations) to implement data-driven strategies.
    • Automate repetitive reporting tasks to improve efficiency.
  • Data Governance & Accuracy:
    • Ensure data accuracy and integrity across various reporting systems.
    • Collaborate with the IT team to optimise data collection processes and troubleshoot discrepancies.
    • Maintain documentation of data sources, methodologies, and reporting standards.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as an eCommerce Data Analyst, Business Analyst, or in a related role.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Google Analytics, Google Data Studio, Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, Power Query), and SQL.
  • Experience with eCommerce platforms like Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce, Amazon Seller Central.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of digital marketing metrics (SEO, PPC, social media analytics).
  • Familiarity with visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Excellent communication skills to present insights clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong project management and multitasking abilities.
