Front End Developer Job Description

Tasks:

  • Web Development:
    • Develop and maintain user-friendly web interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
    • Implement responsive and mobile-first design principles for cross-device compatibility.
    • Work closely with UX/UI designers to translate design mockups into functional web components.
    • Optimise web applications for speed, performance, and scalability.
  • JavaScript Frameworks & Libraries:
    • Utilise frameworks such as React.js, Angular, or Vue.js to develop dynamic, interactive features.
    • Implement reusable components and front-end architecture best practices.
    • Work with state management libraries (Redux, Vuex, or similar).
  • Cross-Browser & Cross-Platform Compatibility:
    • Ensure seamless functionality across multiple browsers and devices.
    • Debug and troubleshoot front-end issues, ensuring compatibility with different screen sizes and resolutions.
    • Maintain compliance with accessibility standards (WCAG).
  • Collaboration with Back-End Developers:
    • Work with back-end teams to integrate front-end components with APIs and databases.
    • Collaborate on the development of RESTful API integrations.
    • Ensure seamless communication between front-end and back-end services.
  • UI/UX Optimisation:
    • Implement best practices in user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design.
    • Conduct usability testing and gather user feedback to refine web applications.
    • Stay up to date with emerging UI/UX trends and recommend improvements.
  • Version Control & Deployment:
    • Utilise version control systems such as Git/GitHub for code management.
    • Participate in the deployment process, working with CI/CD pipelines and hosting platforms.
    • Collaborate in Agile or Scrum-based development environments.
  • Code Quality & Maintenance:
    • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following coding standards.
    • Conduct regular code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
    • Continuously improve the application by refactoring and optimising code.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Front-End Developer with a strong portfolio of web applications.
  • Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), and front-end frameworks (React, Angular, Vue).
  • Strong experience with CSS preprocessors (SASS/LESS) and CSS frameworks (Bootstrap, Tailwind).
  • Familiarity with front-end build tools such as Webpack, Gulp, and NPM/Yarn.
  • Experience with responsive design and mobile-first development.
  • Knowledge of RESTful APIs and integration with front-end applications.
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills using browser developer tools.
  • Excellent understanding of modern web standards and best practices.
