SEO Manager Job Description

Tasks:

  • SEO Strategy Development:
    • Develop and execute comprehensive SEO strategies to improve organic search performance and rankings.
    • Conduct thorough website audits and identify areas for technical, content, and off-page optimisation.
    • Align SEO initiatives with overall business and marketing goals.
  • Keyword Research & Content Optimisation:
    • Perform in-depth keyword research to identify high-impact search terms for target audiences.
    • Collaborate with content teams to optimise web pages, blog posts, and landing pages for SEO.
    • Create and implement on-page SEO best practices, including meta tags, headings, and internal linking.
  • Technical SEO Management:
    • Optimise website architecture, crawlability, and indexing to enhance search engine visibility.
    • Monitor site health and performance using tools such as Google Search Console, Screaming Frog, and SEMrush.
    • Address technical SEO issues, including page speed, mobile-friendliness, structured data, and URL optimisation.
    • Collaborate with developers to ensure SEO best practices are implemented in website builds and updates.
  • Link Building & Off-Page SEO:
    • Develop and implement effective link-building strategies to improve domain authority.
    • Identify and engage with high-authority websites for guest blogging and partnership opportunities.
    • Monitor backlink profiles and remove toxic or harmful links.
  • Analytics & Performance Tracking:
    • Track, measure, and report on SEO performance using tools such as Google Analytics, Ahrefs, Moz, and SEMrush.
    • Provide actionable insights and recommendations based on performance data.
    • Conduct competitive analysis and market research to identify opportunities and threats.
  • Local SEO (if applicable):
    • Optimise Google My Business listings and ensure local search visibility.
    • Manage local citations and directory listings to enhance location-based search presence.
    • Implement strategies for location-specific landing pages and content.
  • SEO Compliance & Best Practices:
    • Stay updated with the latest algorithm changes, SEO trends, and industry best practices.
    • Ensure compliance with search engine guidelines to avoid penalties and maintain rankings.
    • Educate internal teams on SEO principles and best practices.
  • Collaboration & Reporting:
    • Work closely with content, development, and marketing teams to align SEO initiatives with broader campaigns.
    • Present SEO reports and insights to stakeholders, highlighting progress and growth opportunities.
    • Provide guidance to content creators to ensure SEO-friendly copywriting and content structuring.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as an SEO Manager or in a similar role with a successful track record in organic growth.
  • Strong knowledge of SEO tools such as Google Analytics, Search Console, Ahrefs, SEMrush, Screaming Frog, and Moz.
  • Deep understanding of on-page, off-page, and technical SEO strategies.
  • Experience with website platforms such as WordPress, Shopify, Magento, or similar CMS platforms.
  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript as it relates to SEO.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to interpret data effectively.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Ability to stay ahead of industry changes and adapt strategies accordingly.
